Daddy ..
I’ve got memories that fade like photographs .
The colours aren’t as bright ,
maybe it’s my eyes.
Are they still the burgandy brown of my childhood?
Do they still shine as bright as the night stars?
Or was that only because of you ?
The once vivid not so still images of us,
are slowing down and wasting away .
The fact that you’re gone ,
and these dissolving photographs
are all that I have
brings disease to my stomach .
You see if you were here ,
You’d rub my tummy until I’d fall asleep .
Everything would be okay .
But you’re not here,
and this aching worry in my abdomen won’t pass.
I won’t wake up in an hour and
feel as if it were all a bad dream .
Sometimes I’ll lay in bed and think of you .
I still have your watch,
It’s set at 5:23 pm at the 4th day.
You left me ,
us ,
on May 23rd, 2004.
And as you slowly faded away ,
these memories will too .
Cancer is an odious disease.
It ate your memories,
you forgot my name .
My memories will fade like photographs,
of you ,
of us ,
but your name will always be the same ;
Daddy .
I love you, Daddy. RIP <3

Fear is inevitable ..
Fear . An emotional response to a percieved threat. It’s going to happen whether you like it or not . Whether it’s walking home in the dark , those little creepy crawlers on your ceiling , growing old alone , dying alone , or even dying in general . It’s going to happen . Everyone fears something . There is absolutely NOT one person on this earth that can truthfully say that they are not afraid of anything . Sure , there are macho men , and evil kenevils , but even they are afraid .
Some of the most common physical reactions of fear are:
- Rapid heart rate
- Increased blood pressure
- Tightening of muscles
- Sharpened or redirected senses
- Dilation of the pupils (to let in more light)
- Increased sweating
More than half of these examples of physical reactions for fear are examples of defense . Tightening of muscles, sharpened senses , dilated pupils .. why does every human being have to defend themselves from an emotional thought ? Walking home alone in the dark is only scary if you think of the possiblities of rape , or being jumped. Little creepy crawlers are only scary if you think of them harming you .
Fear sometimes gets the best of us . Not asking someone out because you’re afraid of rejection . How stupid ?! I know I’ve done it , but it’s stupid . What do you have to lose ? The little chance you had in the first place of them saying yes ?
Fear is often exaggerated . Thinking a little mouse is going to kill you and drag away your body to slowly snack on your eroding flesh is taking fear to the next level . That little mouse is most likely more afraid of you than you are of it . Think, you’re about 100x it’s size , of course it is going to be afraid .
Which brings me to the point that fear is percieved through thought . The thought of being crushed by something 100x your size , or being attacked while walking home alone at night , are thoughts . What ifs .
What if someone attacks me on my way home tonight ?
What if that spider bites me , and I get sick ?
What if . What if . What if .
The mind will never eliminate fear , but it can overcome it .
